ABOUT COORG:

COORG (also called as Kodagu and Scotland of India) is one of the most sought after hill-town in India. Situated in the Western Ghats, Karnataka (6hrs drive from Bangalore) – it is also known as the ‘Coffee bowl of India‘!

5 Key Steps to Self-Plan your Coorg Vacation:

  1. October to March is the season time to visit Coorg. If you love to visit during rainy season like me, June to September is the time – but, do watch out the weather forecast as it rains heavily!
  2. Area of Stay: If your vacation is for:
    • Tourism: Prefer a hotel / home-stay in or close to Madikeri. It is the headquarters of Coorg and mid-point to all sightseeing places
    • Leisure : Prefer a hotel / resort in Coorg that provides in-house activities
  3. Travel within Coorg: Preferable to have a personal car or cab to drive around Coorg. Do have Google Maps installed in your phone!
  4. Food: You do get continental food. But, do try out their unique Kodava cuisine.
    • If travelling with kids, I would suggest you to have your Dinner at your place of stay (as there is not enough lighting on roads)
  5. Medicines: If you are staying outside Madikeri, it is better to have your medicines handy,

Some of the miss-me-not experiences in Coorg:

  1. Observing the birth of Cauvery River
  2. Feeding & bathing of Mysore Dussehra elephants
  3. Strolling through Coffee Estates
  4. Thrilling activities in a resort
