Day 1 : Morning

All packed and set, we started our journey from Bangalore at 6am.

Madikeri, headquarters of Coorg, is reachable from two major cities:

Travel Tips:

1.Bangalore : 6 hrs on-road via

  • NH75 (via Hassan District) – I prefer this route due to less traffic and well maintained roads. Did get an opportunity to visit Shravanabelagola on the way
  • NH275 (via Mysore)

2. Mysore : 3 hrs on-road via NH 275

Halted for breakfast at Hotel Mayura (Belur Cross).

After an excellent breakfast, we reached Shravanabelagola (known for the famous 57 foot Gommateshwara Bahubali statue). To reach the statue, we need to climb 700 steps and for elderly people – they also provide Doli service. It takes about 2 hours to ascend, worship and descend.

Day 1 : Afternoon

Reached Kushalanagar (foothills of Coorg). Had lunch and headed to the famous Namdroling Monastery

This Golden Temple is well maintained and you shouldn’t miss their hymns. The kids ‘hum’ in such a manner – that you can feel the vibration!

After spending an hour at the monastery, we started our final leg towards our estate stay – Serene Woods, Madikeri. The journey through the lush green trees with mild rain – was an experience that needs to be felt!

We preferred this estate stay as it was close to Madikeri and wanted a calm and unique experience! Well – It was one of our best decisions!

Strolled through their estate and it started to rain! When it rains – what do you do? Relax in their porch and sip their home-grown Arabica coffee!

Day 1 : Night

Had dinner and rest at their estate. Day 2 is all about the key tourist spots – Talacauvery, Bhagamandala & Raja’s Seat
